No Search Results
Here's what to do if your search returns zero results, or not the results you expected.
Common causes and solutions
1. Check the keyword's spelling
The same word can produce different results depending on how it's written.
| Try this spelling | Example |
|---|---|
| Hiragana | すたーばっくす |
| Katakana | スターバックス |
| Kanji | 星巴克 |
| Alphabet | Starbucks |
| Abbreviation | スタバ |
Solution: Use OR search to search multiple spellings at once
Starbucks OR Sutaba OR スターバックス
2. Check the date range
You may be searching outside the period the keyword actually aired.
Solution:
- Try widening the date range (e.g. 1 week -> 1 month)
- Adjust the range to match an event or release date
3. Add a search type
A term may not appear in captions but might still be mentioned verbally.
Solution:
- Select both "Text" and "Audio"
- Also try visual search (alpha)
4. Check the channel selection
The content may only have aired on specific channels.
Solution:
- Use "Select all" to target every channel
- Select both Kanto and Kansai
5. Check the commercial filter
Limiting to commercials-only or programs-only narrows the results.
Solution:
- Select "Programs + Commercials" (both included)
6. Check the search mode
Exact match mode excludes partial matches.
Solution:
- Try "Related match" mode
Checklist
Before searching, confirm the following:
- [ ] The keyword's spelling is correct
- [ ] The date range is appropriate
- [ ] Multiple search types are selected
- [ ] The target channels are selected
- [ ] The commercial filter is set to "both included"
If you still get no results
The keyword may not have aired on TV
The following cases may mean no matching data exists:
- A minor product or brand
- Aired only on local programming
- No TV exposure during the search period
Try a more general keyword
An overly specific keyword produces fewer results.
| Too specific | More general |
|---|---|
| Starbucks Vanilla Frappuccino | Frappuccino |
| 2024 new Prius | Prius |
