CM & Program Filtering
TVPulse lets you distinguish between commercials and program content when searching. Use the filter that fits your purpose.
How to set the commercial filter
- Click the "Change" button on the search screen
- Choose your setting in the "Programs/Commercials" section
- Use the toggle switches to turn "Programs" and "Commercials" on or off
Filter setting types
Programs + Commercials (both included)
Searches both program content and commercials.
Setting:
- Programs: On
- Commercials: On
Use cases:
- To understand overall exposure
- To start with a broad search
Programs only (commercials excluded)
Searches program content only. Commercials are excluded.
Setting:
- Programs: On
- Commercials: Off
Use cases:
- To check coverage in news or information programs
- To see how something is featured within a program
- To measure PR (publicity) effectiveness
Commercials only
Searches commercials only. Program content is excluded.

- To check a competitor's ad placements
- To confirm your own commercial exposure
- To measure advertising effectiveness

What commercial search shows

Commercial detail information
For each commercial, you can view:
- Brand name - The advertiser's brand
- Company name - The advertiser's company
- Product name - The product being advertised
- Slogan - The commercial's tagline
- Summary - An AI-generated summary of the commercial's content
- Duration - Length of the commercial (seconds)
- Airing count - Number of times it aired
- Thumbnail - The commercial's thumbnail image
Use cases
PR effectiveness measurement
Check whether a press release resulted in program coverage:
- Select the "Programs only" filter
- Set the date range to after the announcement date
- Search by product name or brand name
Ad placement analysis
Understand a competitor's advertising activity:
- Select the "Commercials only" filter
- Search by the competitor's brand name
- Or use commercial search (/account/cm)
Overall exposure analysis
Get a full picture of TV exposure:
- Select the "Programs + Commercials" filter
- Search for the keyword you want to analyze
- Check "Commercial count" in the results for advertising exposure
Identifying results
In standard TV search results, the summary card shows "Commercial count," letting you see how many commercials are included in the results.
Notes
- Commercial detection is done automatically by AI and is not 100% accurate
- Some commercials may be classified as "programs"
- On-screen sponsor credits within a program may be classified as "commercials"
